Although there are a few days left this year, the Boston Training Program has begun and I am 'all in' right now. As of today, Boston is my 'A' marathon. I'll get into all my 2010 goals some other time but just know that I'm going to train hard for Boston. Only a few things can derail this plan.
1. Injury
2. Tired of running in the cold, dark, wet, etc...
3. It is warm enough to ride my bike outside and test my new SRAM stuff
4. I find a better marathon later in the spring that looks like a fast course
5. Mount Lemon Marathon gets cancelled
6. I don't feel like it
7. Bad showing at 'Last Chance' in February and realize I'm wasting my time
With this fragile half thought out plan of 'Excellence in April', I hit the treadmill for the 2009's last interval session. As usual, I hate the treadmill and dream of having a winter home in Phoenix. Actually, as long as I'm dreaming, maybe a winter place in the south of France as well. I'd like a pony, a personal assistant, and an everlasting gobstopper too.
I've used this same training plan for a few years and it has given me inreasingly good results. I plan to stay with it this spring but maybe back off the bike and just focus on the run. So the plan starts with 2 x (4 x 800) at 10k pace. I thought I would give it a go but it was going to be tough. I fell apart after the 6th and adjusted it back a little. It was a little faster than last year's first interval workout but not quite the stamina.
1 mile warm up
4 x 800 on 3:00 with 1:30 recovery
4 mins EZ (10 min/mile)
2 x 800 on 3:00 with 2:00 recovery
2 x 400 on 1:30 with 2:00 recovery
.5 mile cool down
I think MD got the intervals in. Nemo and GS are getting lazy about updating twitter. They need to find a better training log system.
Stats
7 mile run (intervals)
1 hour spin
159 lbs
